What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?
I’m encouraging, empathetic, and I just really enjoy taking care of people. That’s a big part of the job. You have to have a genuine love for people. And beer.
What superpower would you want and why?
Can I have two? I’ve always wanted to be able to talk to animals, but that photon blast thing that Captain Marvel does is pretty cool, too.
Where are you from and how did you end up in Springfield?
I grew up in Greenfield, a small town just north of Springfield. I moved here to attend college, fell in love with the city, and have been here ever since!
What is your favorite beer at SBC?
I once asked a guest which beer was his favorite after he ordered a flight. He said, “I don’t have a favorite. I like what each one brings. That’s a good way to look at people, too.” I’ll never forget that. It’s hard to choose a favorite when we have so many awesome beers, but if I have to…I guess I’d say the Porter or McDaniel’s Draught. I’m a sucker for dark beers and anything nitro!
Tell me someone you admire and why?
My grandmothers. They taught me a lot about faith, hard work, and loving people.
What are you happiest doing, when you are not working?
Petting dogs and drinking beer! I’m happy doing anything outside, really. I love bird watching, hiking, floating, running, hanging out at local breweries, and watching baseball. Go Cards!
How did you start at SBC?
I had been working in the service industry for several years, and Brew Co was always one of my favorite spots for patio sippin’. I just decided to apply one day and got the job!
Do you have any skills or talents that most people don’t know about?
I’m a boss at baking.
Favorite Brew Co memory?
A couple that I was serving decided to pick up the tab for a family that was seated nearby. When I told the family that their bill had been taken care of, they decided to pay it forward to another table. Then that table wanted to pay it forward to another. This went on for a while, and ended with a couple sitting at the bar who had just been having a conversation about paying it forward. They were so happy. It was sweet.
